January Backyard Wedding Alpine 1

I told Tatum & John’s guests after the Last Dance, “I have to admit–I didn’t expect much dancing with it being around 40 degrees after sunset–you guys proved me wrong!!!” What a great crowd! Tatum & John tied the knot in their friend Ken’s amazing Alpine backyard (complete with a creek, bridge, beautiful trees, & crisp mountain air). This January backyard wedding was casual, cold, but still cah-razy (in all the right ways)!

THE JANUARY BACKYARD WEDDING CEREMONY

The bride walked down the aisle to Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years.” After a unique ceremony by their family friend, Tatum & John walked back down the aisle to Eddie Money’s “Take Me Home Tonight.” The heaters got cranked up during cocktail hour as I played soft variety, mostly modern stuff with a few Motown & 80s favorites.

BUNDLED UP ON THE DANCE FLOOR

After the Grand Entrance & toasts, we got down to the business of the par-tay! The guests had on pea coats, beanies, gloves, scarves–their little noses turning red in the frigid air. But they got out on the dance floor & kept themselves warm. After playing blocks of just about everything from country to oldies (and a lot of Lynyrd Skynyrd), I saw the coats start to come off! I saw guests wiping their brows & fanning–YES, FANNING–themselves with the photo booth props (while it was cold enough to see their breath)! Not only did the dance floor stay hoppin’ until 10:00 at night, but we sent the newlyweds off with sparklers still having a crowd of 40-50 people on hand! Tatum & John’s soiree is just more proof that you don’t need a big budget, a fancy dinner (they served BBQ & macaroni salad with rolls), or a swanky climate-controlled venue in order to have an incredibly memorable & fun wedding–all you need is a FABULOUS WEDDING DJ + ALCOHOL! See for yourself in the video here.

CONGRATS!!!

Congratulations to Tatum & John and their budding family. They couldn’t have made not being able to feel my feet for 6 hours any more enjoyable! (Seriously, I was wearing 6 layers on top & 2 on bottom plus a scarf & beanie!) Looking for a trooper to San Diego DJ your January backyard wedding?
