I had the pleasure of being the one-and-only San Diego wedding DJ Lucas and Amia chose to DJ and MC their understated Rancho Valencia Resort wedding on Saturday, August 12, 2017.
THE CEREMONY
Lucas & Amia’s unplugged ceremony was in the Rose Garden at Rancho Valencia Resort in Rancho Santa Fe.
THE RANCHO VALENCIA RESORT WEDDING RECEPTION
Rancho Valencia Resort took over 2 hours to serve 70 people dinner, so unfortunately we lost a lot of dance time…Amia & Lucas actually decided to skip their First Dance and formal cake cutting in order to have more dance time 🙁 I ended up playing their Cake Cutting song (Noah Guthrie’s version of Meghan Trainor’s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You”) and First Dance song (“Crush,” Dave Matthews Band) during open dancing so at least the Amia & Lucas got to dance to them. So Amia lloovveesss the song “Let’s Get Married” by Jagged Edge…she asked for it for their Grand Entrance and during open dancing.
THE PLAYLIST
For the cocktail hour/dinner playlist at this Rancho Valencia Resort wedding, Amia requested: Soft Variety, Soft Country/Classic & Guitar Rock, Motown/R&B, and Summer-time Hip Hop.
For dancing, Lucas & Amia requested mostly Top 40/Pop, Hip Hop/R&B, Rap, and Electronic Dance Music to include Amia’s Jagged Edge fave and “Cashin Out” by Cash Out. Their “do not play” list consisted of: Big Band/Rat Pack, Original Electric Slide, Original Macarena, Cha Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, YMCA, Limbo, Chicken Dance, Harlem Shake, The Wobble, and Whip Nae Nae.
