Steele Canyon Golf Club wedding 1

On Friday, August 7, 2015, there was only one San Diego wedding DJ at Jessica and Kevin’s wedding at Steele Canyon Golf Club in Jamul…and it was this lucky lady!

I. LOVE. PURPLE.

No, not lavender. Not fuschia. Not reddish-blue. Full-on purple. They say it’s the color of royalty & spirituality. And I do not see it enough (hardly ever) at weddings. Kudos to bride Jessica for putting together this gorgeous purple & gray Steele Canyon Golf Club wedding theme…that all the vendors were complimenting as we were setting up.

THE LOVE STORY

Jessica & Kevin met 10 years ago. Their first date was one of the first things Jessica did after getting her driver’s license! The wedding was planned from a distance as Jessica lives in Arizona & Kevin was stationed abroad during their engagement. Nevertheless, it all came together beautifully with the catering & venue coordination from Barry at Steele Canyon Golf Club, the amazing florals from Jamul Flowers, & live saxophone from Erisa Blackmon. I provided DJ/MCing & uplighting.

THIS STEELE CANYON GOLF CLUB WEDDING RECEPTION

The parents & wedding party two-stepped down the aisle to “Spend my Life with You” by Eric Benet & Tamia. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her dad to Kenny G’s “The Moment.” The married couple drove off into the sunset in a golf cart to Matthew West’s “When I Say I Do.” Erisa’s live saxophone entertained during the cocktail hour. The wedding party & newlyweds were introduced to Mary J. Blige’s “A Night to Remember.” During dinner, if the guests wanted to see Jessica & Kevin kiss, they had to come up to the DJ table & pick an activity out of the hat…the father of the bride answered a trivia question about the groom, others sang a song about love, others had to dance to a song of my choosing (“Friends in Low Places” for the first victim….I mean volunteer, and Rod Stewart’s “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” for the next!)

THE MUSIC

The couple did custom voiceovers for their dances with their parents. Check out Jessica’s custom Father Daughter song here. After a group photo on the dance floor, I kicked off open dancing with Earth Wind + Fire’s “Let’s Grove Tonight.” This crowd loved to line dance so we did all the big ones! The groom removed the garter to Cameo’s “Candy” & tossed it to Janet J’s “Nasty.” The single guys all lurched away from the garter as it sailed towards them…letting it hit the floor. OK, bummer but not that weird for a bunch of bachelors, right? BUT THEN the single ladies did the SAME THING with the bouquet, lurching away from it & letting it hit the floor. That was a first for me!

See it for yourself in the above video here! Quite the spectacle! Need a San Diego wedding DJ for your Steele Canyon Golf Club wedding? I’m just down the road…give us a buzz! Thanks again to Steele Canyon for being such amazing hosts, the delicious dinner, & the friendly staff. Folks, Steele Canyon is a really affordable, gorgeous, & low-stress San Diego wedding venue–highly recommended!
