DJ Staci asked, and All Good Things Photography answered…

How did you start doing weddings?

I second shot my first wedding when I was in high school. The bride and groom were my uncle and aunt. I was using my school camera, and I remember editing the photos in my photography class. After that I went to college, shot small weddings here and there and then interned at a well-known wedding photography company in Orange County. I second shot for them and still do sometimes, but I knew if I wanted this to be a career, I needed to book more weddings on my own. In 2016, I committed myself to shooting weddings, and I was able to work with over 13 bride and grooms. I love shooting weddings, and I’m honored I get to be a part of a couple’s special day.

Most interesting thing that ever happened at a wedding you worked?

The brides entire family did a choreographed dance, even grandpa was a part of it!

What is your professional background? Do you attend workshops to improve your craft? Have certificates/degrees?

I graduated California State University Fullerton with a Bachelors of Arts in PhotoCommunications. Everything I know is self taught, my formal education provided critique on my work and encouraged my journalistic style.

When you are not at a wedding on any given Saturday, what would you most likely be doing?

Editing… or hanging out with my husband and 3 nephews.

What are your top 3 wedding accomplishments you are most proud of?

I set a goal for myself of booking 10 weddings for 2016 and I shot over 13 weddings. My business if just getting going so I haven’t set many goals for myself. I would love to be featured in a bridal magazine or take part in a destination wedding.

You as a wedding professional in 5 words or less…

Giddy, excited and funny.
If you could tell the wedding industry as a whole one thing, what would it be?

It’s not about the fluff, the flowers, the amount of money spent on the wedding. We have to remember it’s about the couple and their relationship, all the rest comes after.

If you could tell engaged couples everywhere one thing, what would it be?

Do whatever you want to do. Don’t feel pressured to take part of society’s idea of what a wedding should be or look like. Make your day completely about you, what you guys like and your relationship.

Dish about what was important at your own wedding?

It was important that our families had a fun time and we were able to get images that showed that.

And anything else you’d like to throw in!

I think a major reason why my business has grown in the past 2 years is that I have amazing clients who love telling their friends and families about their experience with me and their images.
