Jessika Carlos Bilingual Glendale Wedding 2

Jessika & Carlos’ bilingual Glendale wedding was held at Armstrong Manor on August 20, 2016. Flashback ten years…and that is when they met at a no-alcohol quinceañera. Jessika wanted a drink and Carlos happened to have something. Their first official date was to a Memorial Day party at a friend’s house. Their first ‘I love you’ was a bit later in September 2010, right after their first big fight. They were on the phone and Carlos called Jessika ‘mi amor.’ Jessika responded, ‘You can’t call me that unless you love me.’ Carlos said, ‘But I do. Talk to ya later,’ and hung up. Together, they enjoy hanging out with their kids Cain (whose 4) and Mary Jane (whose 3) and going to Dodger games. Their honeymoon plans involve a trip to Mexico.

COCKTAIL HOUR & DINNER MUSIC

After Jessika and Carlos’ church ceremony, I played a mix of Summer-time Hip Hop and Mariachi music for the Cocktail Hour. For dinner, Jessika wanted Classic Rock. She specifically requested: the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, the Police, and the Cure.

SPECIAL DANCES

At this bilingual wedding, the songs for the special dances were very important. Carlos chose “Madrecita Querida,” by Vicente Fernandez for the Mother-Son Dance. Jessika chose “Mi Viejo” also by Vicente for her Father-Daughter Dance. Their First Dance was the Creedence Clearwater Revival version of “I Put a Spell on You.”

A bit later, for the Garter Removal, Jessika wanted “Me So Horny” by 2 Live Crew. For the Garter Toss, the choice was “Another One Bites the Dust” by Queen. Jessika tossed her bouquet to “Love Is a Battlefield” by Pat Benatar. The Last Dance requested was “You’re All I Need” by Mary J. Blige and Method Man.

BILINGUAL GLENDALE WEDDING DANCE MUSIC

While Jessika and Carlos had requested 90s gangsta rap and some 80s and so on, their crowd was really only gettin’ down to Spanish music….so it was a night of Cumbias, Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata. Jessika’s Do Not Play list eliminated all “the cheese:” “What Does the Fox Say,” Justin Bieber, boy bands, jerking, “Gangnam Style,” “Hokie Pokie,” “Electric Boogie,” “Cha Cha Slide,” “Cupid Shuffle,” “Payaso de Rodeo,” “Cha Cha Slide,” “Chicken Dance,” “Shout,” “Harlem Shake,” “Wobble,” and “Dougie.” It was truly a line-dance-free wedding.
