6 Advantages of Hotel Weddings 1

Decisions! Decisions! While outdoor weddings have their advantages, hotel weddings do too. How cool would it be if you could wake up on the morning of your wedding not having to go anywhere to get ready? And, after you’ve partied the night away, how nice would it be to just buzz up to your suite? Hotels are a natural fit for weddings for a number of reasons.

#1 – GET THE ROYAL TREATMENT

On your wedding day, you are going to want the five-star treatment. Since hotels are used to giving amazing customer service 24 hours a day, you are more likely to receive the royal treatment from everyone you encounter–be it the janitor or the banquet captain–if you opt for a hotel wedding. Plus, here in San Diego, there are an infinite supply of hotels. To stand out, the great hotels spend their energies on impeccable customer service. That is definitely the ambiance you want on the big day—not just for you but for your guests.

#2 – CONVENIENT LOCATION & PARKING

Another advantage of choosing a hotel wedding for your San Diego nuptials is that parking is generally easy and convenient for a large group. Your friends and family will be in uncomfortable shoes and their most expensive duds. They shouldn’t have to be walking too far to get to your wedding. Also, hard-to-find wedding spots mean your ceremony is more likely to start late as guests drive around trying to find the venue. Hotels, are not only easy to locate but there’s rarely a need to drive around searching for a parking spot (vs. a La Jolla beach front wedding).

#3 – FIND A ROOM THAT’S JUUUUUST RIGHT

Most hotels have another very cool feature—expandable banquet rooms. Typically, a large hotel can easily accommodate any group size. You don’t want an intimate crowd of 50 in a room with a capacity of 500 or to squeeze 132 people in your 125 person space. The right room size can effect “the feel” of the reception in many ways. For example, if the dancing area is too big, guests are less likely to get up and get to groovin’. They want to feel like they are going to disappear into a crowd of people and not stand out. Plus, your dancing pictures won’t show a big group of rowdy, close-packed partiers if everyone is spread out.

#4 – LESS LEGWORK BRINGING IN NEEDED EQUIPMENT

Another great perk of having a hotel wedding are that many hotels have things like sound systems, screens and projectors, uplighting, and similar equipment. Since hotels generally host a lot of business conferences and meetings, they are likely to have full-blown Audio-Visual Departments with many of the add-on items you’ll want for your wedding.

#5 – LIGHTING

Finally, an often overlooked benefit of getting married at a hotel is the ability to dim the lighting during the reception. The right amount of brightness is needed so your elderly guests can safely walk around, while the right amount of darkness is needed so your DJ or band can create an ideal party atmosphere on your dance floor. String or bistro lights, which are often used in outdoor spaces, can not be dimmed—they are either on or off. Not only do most hotels have dimmers, but it’s not uncommon at a hotel to have the ability to keep the right-side lights on while turning off the left side and vice versa.

#6 – NO WEATHER WORRIES

There are a lot of overlooked perks to having a hotel wedding. While most bridal blogs show off outdoor weddings, I will leave you with one final hotel wedding perk…no weather worries. You can’t always see that in the two-dimensional wedding photos we see online, but it’s another huge worry lifted off your shoulders if you are wondering where in San Diego to celebrate your big day.
